Our story is as unique as our quality gifts-it began in 1993 with my last unemployment paycheck of $200 along with a few baskets, bows and a dream. My mother, Shirley and I sat at my dining room table assembling special gift creations. Even then, we were resourceful and inspired and I knew the foundation and success of EXCLAMATIONS! would be based upon unrivaled quality and outstanding personal service.
We quickly grew into San Diego's premiere full-service gift company-our signature look was born and we were making friends as fast as our gift baskets were being delivered. One of the pivotal moments for the company came when Nordstrom hired me to create custom gift baskets for their customers. Momentum soon powered our small company to being selected as the "Small Business of the Month" by Costco. Before long, I found myself being flown to JC Penny's Corporate Headquarters in Plano, Texas to instruct their staff in the art of gift basket design-which was produced as an in-house instructional video.
For the next 8 years, my staff expanded and grew we into larger quarters until in 2001, my American Dream came true. I purchased my own 5,000 square foot facility, with a Gift Gallery, workshop, offices and warehouse-all housed under one roof!
Along the way, we have been blessed by many honors including being named as a finalist for the San Diego Business Journal's Women Who Mean Business Awards.
Community involvement is a core value at EXCLAMATIONS! We are a proud member of many civic organizations including the Building Industry Association (BIA) and Rotary International. We also support Habitat for Humanity, the YWCA Program for Battered Women, the San Diego Center for Children, the American Cancer Society and so many other Charities. In 2005, I became an active member of Las Patronas-a volunteer philanthropy that grants over a million dollars a year to various San Diego non-profit organizations. We understand that helping others is a priceless gift.
